1st Day of Kamp
What a heart-warming, transformative skate! In nearly a decade of coaching, I don’t know if I’d had as rewarding 60 minutes of ice. I hope it was as impactful for Klaus and his new Klaus Krew buddies. We welcomed 16-and-under all-stars David Scherf, Minneapolis U12, & Will Stricker, Wayzata U12, as part of Klaus Krew “typical” hockey camp mates. To start the skate we were led into a tremendous edge work warm-up, custom built by Katrina Stewart of True North Power Skating for adaptive camp.
We then slid Klaus, David & Will into a merged, co-operative practice plan to improve their passing & shooting. I was super impressed by Will’s toe-drag-release snap shot during all of our one-touch passing drills. David was exceptional at swinging his body open to his forehand with speed after his strides during his moving one-touch shot reps.
Last but certainly not least, we have to call out Klaus’s 1st Ever “Final Five” skate-a-thon. For Kamp weeks 2-8, we should name this 5-minute segment the Krush-A-Thon, because Kraus simply crush it. View this video on social: instagram/coachcoonan/day1
